The national coordinator in the THINK project for Greece is:

NetSmart S.A.

NetSmart S.A. was founded in 1996 in Athens, Greece. Its aim is to take into the market some products and services, many of which will be based on results stemming from the previous R&D efforts. In particular, NetSmart targets Internet and Intranet-based services, with the World Wide Web as the main medium of communication.
NetSmart was initially founded as the Athens-based spin-off of BIOTRAST S.A., which has a long experience in EC funded Research and Development. NetSmart has continued to do research work in the areas of healthcare and technology for the disabled and elderly, supporting the participation of BIOTRAST in Health Telematics projects like HSPRO and COCO.
NetSmart is now developing and selling services based on its own Web servers, which is a central point for disseminating and marketing Internet services. NetSmart is also developing a number of business alliances in other European countries, including mirroring sites for pan-European marketing and sales, as well as business partners in joint development of information content to be included in target-specific and niche applications and services.
NetSmart has developed extensive in-house expertise on Web-based application development in a number of native Internet platforms, such as Perl, Java, Javascript, Linux, CORBA and is particularly active in the development of database-supported content services accessible through the Web and the set-up of content-specific and industry-specific intranet services. The main application fields of these technologies, where NetSmart is particularly active, include healthcare and remote working.
NetSmart is doing its own development of teleworking services and has launched a Virtual Office service, is developing its own e-commerce software, tailored-made to the needs of small suppliers in the business-to-consumer and the business-to-business area. NetSmart is also developing applications for the dissemination of information, news services and business portals.

Forthnet

FORTHnet S.A. has been chosen to be the telecommunications partner of THINK because of its 10 years successful presence and its reputation in Greece. FORTHnet S.A. is the outcome that resulted from the combination of scientific research and entrepreneurial ingenuity. Based on its philosophy, that is to fully satisfy its customers'needs, the company offers tailor- made solutions appropriately adapted to the special requirements of each customer. Both individual subscribers and corporate users have access to a wide range of services for simple and complete solutions. As far as infrastructure is concerned, the company has been persistently engaging in constant upgrades of its network, by always using the latest technologies. Presently FORTHnet disposes of the most advanced machinery, supplied by leading manufacturers in the field.

The growth of FORTHnet continues as it is the only Internet service provider that has been listed to the ASE (Athens Stock Exchange) and has obtained from the National Telecommunications and Postal Services Commission (EETT) the first fixed telephony license, by means of which the company already provides the capability to perform international, long distance, and urban voice calls to both companies and plain domestic users. FORTHnet SA, as the telecommunications partner of THINK in Greece, will offer all the necessary services of voice and data communication to the
disable people that will be enrolled to the project.
More specifically, the telecommunications partner will provide:
· Up to forty (40) ISDN dial-up connections to Internet for the disabled teleworkers.
· One leased line (256kbps) to link the teleworking centre to the Internet.
· Up to forty (40) voice connections to the homes of disabled teleworkers, and up to five (5) voice connections to the teleworking centre, for the facilitation of Call Centre Operations. Connections to teleworkers' homes will be provided free of charge for an initial period of 9 months, with the intention of turning them into paid subscribers thereafter. Connections to the teleworking centre will be provided free of charge for 12 months initially, with the option to extending the offer up to the end of THINK. Thereafter, the teleworking centre will have to be a paying subscriber.

BBDO ATHENS

 

A network of sixteen, independent marketing communication companies, offer high standard, full-service brand advertising, integrated marketing services, media specialist functions as well as print & production. BBDO Athens features a long list of demanding Greek and international clients which in conjunction with the above characteristics create an ideal framework for the pursuit of the THINK project goals success.
The media and promotion partner of the THINK project has been selected for two main reasons: the extensive experience in the Greek market and the market awareness it enjoys.
BBDO Athens, the Media and Promotion Partner will be involved in the design and execution of promotional and media campaigns about the recruitment of disabled people from THINK and the attraction of outsourced work to be carried out by them.

Hewlett Packard

 

Hewlett Packard. has been selected to be the IT equipment partner of THINK because of its profile and its contributing actions to communities, regions and nations in which it operates since the company was founded in 1939. HP strongly supports the idea that each individual should strive to improve the world in which we live.
As a corporation operating in many different communities throughout the world, HP aims to create desirable jobs, to contribute talent, time and financial support to worthwhile community projects. At a national and international level, it is essential for HP to be "a good corporate citizen" of each country in which it operates. HP is looking for creative ways to apply technology to societal problems and contributing HP products and support to programs that address immediate or long-term societal needs. Within this framework, Hewlett Packard constitutes the ideal partner for the THINK project, since it has the right corporate mentality and the proper products to promote the goals of the project and contribute to its success.
Hewlett Packard, as the IT equipment partner of THINK will provide the required equipment for the creation of the home-based offices for the teleworkers.
More specifically, the IT Equipment Partner undertakes:
· To provide workstations and peripherals at reduced cost for up to forty (40) disabled teleworkers.
· To support the financing of such equipment for disabled teleworkers.

Microsoft

The selection of Microsoft as the software partner of the THINK project was mainly based on two reasons: the high levels of market awareness that it enjoys and the wide range of products and applications that it markets.
Teleworkers will be trained to use Microsoft applications in order to execute their daily tasks, but also in order to acquire valuable skills for their future professional careers.
Microsoft, the Software Partner undertakes to provide at no cost systems and application software of its own making, which will be required for training up to forty (40) disabled teleworkers and enabling them to work from a distance.
Such software will include the operating system of workstations, productivity applications such as word processing and spreadsheets, and Internet communication applications facilitating the exchange of electronic mail and instant messaging.

NOVA BANK

NovaBank is a modern and flexible bank that operates in Greece since September 2000. NovaBank has established its presence in the market by means of large investments, excellent know-how and customer-oriented philosophy. Its extensive network covers a diversity of means - including ATM's, Internet banking and Phone Banking - for the satisfaction of customer needs.
Its customer oriented philosophy entails flexibility and fast to complete procedures concerning a wide range of banking products. Moreover, Novabank promotes the introduction of innovative products in order to cover the emerging needs of a dynamic market. Dedicated to its commitment for an extensive network of branches, the bank is planning investments for additional geographic coverage, apart from the urban areas that are covered so far.
Novabank, the Financial Partner of the THINK project, undertakes:
· To provide banking facilities for THINK business operations and teleworker payment schemes,
· To share the cost of financing hardware equipment for up to forty (40) disabled teleworkers.
In order to select the financial partner a set of criteria was established in order to select a bank with flexible and simple procedures. NovaBank fulfilled these criteria and embraced THINK from the very beginning.

PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS

PriceWaterhouseCoopers and its practices aim to help maximise the effectiveness of the most important asset of the THINK project: the teleworking force. The team of the professionals that will contribute to the project, are people that welcome changes and are well qualified and trained to work through complex situations so as to achieve meaningful results and to successfully address the project needs. Furthermore, PWC consultants have a detailed knowledge of the Greek regulatory and legislative requirements. By tailoring solutions to the project needs, they will provide a range of appropriate solutions.
The human resources partner was selected having in mind the profile of the desired partner and the experience it has gained through the years of professional activity.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers as the human resources partner of THINK will contribute with its services to the selection of the teleworkers that will participate to the project.
More specifically, the human resources partner undertakes:
· To participate in the planning and execution of the selection process of up to forty (40) disabled teleworkers (or 60 manhours in one year).
· To assist in finding job placements and/or outsourced work for up to forty (40) disabled teleworkers.
· PriceWaterhouseCoopers recommends that the candidate interviews will take place at its offices, when that is possible, but their staff will be able to travel in order to visit the prospects in their homes.
